Raider Spotlight

MS Band Night

123

On Friday, September 22nd, the 7th and 8th grade band students joined the high school Marching Raider Band for the annual Middle School Band Night. Nearly eighty middle school students took the field with the high school band for the halftime show of the high school football game against rivals Bellefontaine.

Before the halftime show, the students had put a lot of work into preparing the music and moving their feet to the beat! On Monday, September 18th, and Wednesday, September 20th, the middle school band students joined the high school band for after school rehearsals in order to have the best halftime show possible prepared. Not only did the students work hard to memorize where and when to step off and to play their music correctly, but they also had a lot of fun! Different instrument sections got the opportunity to get to know one another and to work on some marching basics.

Finally, after all of their hard work, roughly two hundred of the combined middle and high school students took the field for their halftime performance. The first song they played was an arrangement of the Secret Agent Man theme song, followed by the James Bond theme song, and wrapped up with the Benjamin Logan Fight Song. Jalynn Musser, an 8th grade student, said the night was “fun, enjoyable, and a great learning experience”.

     STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS:

                         123

The Benjamin Logan Middle School Student Council will be leading this week's BLMS Homecoming Spirit Week Dress-up. Besides dressing up to show school spirit, Student Council is spearheading a fundraising effort to collect money to help Hurricane Relief in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico.

Middle School students and staff are asked to donate $.50 each day they dress up, or $2.00 for the entire week. All proceeds collected will be donated to The Red Cross, with the funds specifically allocated to Hurricane Relief efforts.

On Monday, the dress-up theme is Pajama Day, followed by Disney Day on Tuesday. Wednesday's theme is Hat Day, with Thursday being Twin Day. Wrapping up the week will be Black and Gold Day for Friday. Students are encouraged to have fun with each day's theme and to donate to help others in need.

As a school body, $437.22 was raised for the Hurricane Relief efforts.  Below is a picture slideshow of students and staff who dressed up for Homecoming Spirit Week.
